Donny worked tirelessly to help make the 2009 Hometown Heroes in Action attraction become a reality and a real showcase for demonstrating daily actions of our public safety workers. We are proud of you Donny!

The New York Stae Police will be bringing their dive tank to the fair for demonstrations! Don’t miss that one! The New York State Police will also being roll over demonstrations!

Wednesday, August 12th:

Guilderland Center Fire Department will be showing us “Rope Rescue!”
Rotterdam Fire Rescue Truck District #6 will also be on hand!
New York State Police will have dive tank demonstrations, as well as rollover demonstrations!

The Altamont Fair invites you to enter the 2009 Miss Altamont Fair Pageant! The competition will be held at the Northrup Stage near Gate Three.

ABOUT THE PAGEANT

The purpose of the Pageant is to give the contestants an opportunity to showcase their natural beauty and speaking ability in a public environment so they may enhance their personal and professional skills in order to achiever their educational and professional goals.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must be residents of Albany, Schenectady or Greene Counties.

AGE REQUIREMENTS

Miss Altamont Fair 16-21 years old
Junior Miss Altamont Fair 12-15 years old
Young Miss Altamont Fair 8-11 years old
Little Miss Altamont Fair 5-7 years old

Contestants will be judged on poise, personality, ability to follow directions, on-stage presence and appearance and the ability to communicate with the public.

Application and entry fee must be received in the Fair Office by 3pm on Saturday, August 8, 2009.

It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for! It’s finally time to announce the winner of our “Favorite Altamont Fair Memory Contest!” While we received lots of great memories one reminded us at the Altamont Fair of our first experiences at the fair. We are pleased to announce Sean McLaughlin of Albany as our winner! Curious about Sean’s winning entry? Here it is!

“My favorite memory is from when I was six years old… My brothers and I attended the Altamont Fair for the very first time with a neighbor woman who shall remain the coolest babysitter ever in my mind for all eternity.

We got to ride all the rides, drive bumper cars, eat cotton candy and fried dough, see a magic show, see a concert, win prizes, and see exotic animals… it was like ten amazing adventures rolled all into one! We even saw our elementary school principal there on a date eating fried dough! (Who knew that school principals had lives and ate human food?! LOL)

We had an absolute blast from afternoon until late at night. After we arrived home, we asked what made our babysitter decide to take us there. She replied “it’s what my favorite babysitter did for me when I was your age!!!”

I’d love to win a four-pack of tickets. I babysit regularly for a couple who have two kids. If I won, I’d love to take the kids (who would get in free), their parents, and a friend to the fair!”
